Wandering Wednesday {Toilet Paper Roll Origami}

So, technically this isn't a toilet paper roll craft, but I did think it was a craft way to display your toilet paper.  Evidently, there is a whole book dedicated to toilet paper origami.

I saw this lovely little piece of artwork over on the Just A Girl Blog.  Stop by and check it out, she even gives you a step-by-step tutorial on how to create your very own wall art.

Wandering Wednesday {Toilet Paper Roll Artwork}

Bethany Studios showcased this really cool project over on her site.  I love the bright colors and the airy design of the toilet paper rolls.  We might have to try this one ourselves.

Paper Towel Roll Stamp Roller

 Stamp Roller Supply List: 1 paper towel roll, paint, large construction paper, self adhesive foam stickers

 Start by adhering your foam stickers to your paper towel roll.  Cole loved this part!

 Roll your paper towel roll in paint.  I spread some paint on the back of a paper plate because the cardboard tube wouldn't fit down inside the plate to roll it around.

Roll carefully over your paper.  We let it dry and then Cole drew some other creations on his paper.  It was fun to look over the stamping and point out the different shapes and animals that we saw.

Wandering Wednesday {Pixel Character}

I thought this was a really cool toilet paper roll craft.  It's entirely too complicated for my kiddos, but this would be a really fun project for older kids.  You can see detailed instructions for the project over on the Beru Betto blog.

Color Mixing Using Toilet Paper Rolls

 Color Mixing Supply List: 3 toilet paper rolls, red, yellow & blue paint, construction paper, 3 paper plates

 This activity was a review for Cole since they studied colors and color mixing last year at school.  I let him decide which colors to start with.  I put 2 colors of paint on each plate and let him dip his toilet paper rolls into each one and stamp it onto the paper.  The colors mixed on the paper to create a new color. 

For some reason I have no after pictures of our color mixing project.  To be honest, I have no idea where they went, because I'm pretty sure I took them.  Oh well, it was still a fun project.

Book Suggestion: White Rabbit's Color Book follows White Rabbit as he explores a bowl of yellow, blue and red paint.  This was a really fun book to read after we did our mixing activity.  I had Cole predict what was going to happen before we would turn to the next page.  It was a great way to reinforce our activity.

Wandering Wednesday {Wall Art}

Do you see this beautiful piece of wall art?  It was made entirely out of cardboard tubes.  Toilet paper rolls and paper towel tubes.  Add a little glue and a little paint and viola!  You can see exactly how it was done over on The How-To Gal's blog.

I found these nifty little guys over on the LOUDreams site.  I think these may be the most amazing transformations of toilet paper rolls that I've ever seen.  They are truly unbelievable works of art.

I found these amazing collages created inside toilet paper rolls over here.  Artist Anastassia Elias shares some of here fantastic creations.  I can barely figure out how to thread tissue paper through these guys, I'm just in awe of how intricate her designs are.
