Summer Boredom Buster {Make a Didgeridoo}

This is a favorite from the archives that Cole and I made one summer after going to a library program.  For directions and a video of how it works click here.

Cardboard Tube Didgeridoo

This summer we attended a program put on by Didg Revolution at our local library.  It was great and both kids absolutely loved it.  When we got home later Cole & I decided to try to make our own Didgeridoo.

 Didgeridoo Supply List: 1 wrapping paper tube, stickers & markers, packing tape

Use the stickers and markers to decorate your Didgeridoo.  I tried to encourage him to use the dot stickers to make it look like aboriginal art like they showed us at the program.  Wrap packing tape around the outside end of whichever side will be blown into.  I did this just to prevent it from getting too wet with kid spit.  Below is some video of Cole playing his Didgeridoo.  He was so very proud to show Dad when he got home that evening.

Cardboard Tube Guitar

 Guitar Supply List: 1 wrapping paper roll, empty tissue box, scissors, rubber bands, packing tape
 Begin by tracing your cardboard tube on each end of the tissue box and cut out the circle.  Make sure to cut your circle flush with the back of the box.
 Thread your wrapping paper tube through the box so that about an inch sticks out the bottom.  Cut the plastic off the hole in the tissue box.  Take a few pieces of tape, reach inside the tissue box and tape your tube to the back of the box.
Stretch a few rubber bands around the tissue box and play your little heart out!

Toilet Paper Roll Musical Shaker

 Shaker Supply List: 1 toilet paper roll, pasta, packing tape, paint
 Decorate the outside of your toilet paper roll.
 Cover one end of your shaker with packing tape and fill with pasta.  Then tape the other end of the toilet paper roll.  Some of the pasta will stick to the tape, but it doesn't matter.
 Now it's time to shake, shake, shake your sillies out!
