Loom Bracelet Valentines

Just wanted to share the valentines that Cole and I came up with for this year.  I ordered regular photo cards from Shutterfly and he made loom bracelets for all his friends.  I used a hole punch to punch a half hole by each of his hands to keep the bracelets from sliding around.  They were a huge hit with the first graders.

Free Valentine Truck Printable

Here's another free printable for you guys.  I made these last year for Cole & Kiley's Class Valentines.  They were a huge hit.  I printed them on regular printer paper, cut them out and attached them to the tops of little trucks.  You could also put them on Hot Wheel Cars or Matchbox Cars.  Download them here.

Valentine's Day Crafts

It's February and that means Valentine's Day is right around the corner.  Here are a few of my favorite crafts to celebrate.

Free Truck Valentine Printables

Valentine's Day is just a little less than a month away and I'm excited because I've already got our cards and treats done for both kids' classes.

Way back around the beginning of the year I went hunting for some good after Christmas clearance sales.  Thanks to one of my favorite sites, Totally Target, I was able to score a bunch of Chuck Trucks for just $0.39 each.  After trying to figure out what to do with these little suckers (and surfing Pinterest for a while) I decided to use them for Valentines for the kids.  I created a printable topper for the trucks, but you could also use it for the little Hot Wheels & Matchbox cars that can usually be found for less than $1.00.

Start by downloading the Valentine Printable .pdf files and cutting out the cards.

Fill in the To and From sections of the cards.  I did these for my daughter, but Cole will fill in his own.  Fold the cards on the center line.

Using double sided tape, or a glue stick, or any other similar adhesive, attach the cards to the top of your trucks.  There you go, easy peasy Valentines that are sure to be a hit.

I've created 2 different types of printables that you can use.  The one above is just the front part of the cards and comes as a 3 per page on the .pdf file.  These would be good if you don't need to write a To and From on them.

The second printable is the one I used.  These are designed to fold over the top of your truck or car.

Both of these printables are free for you to download and use for personal use.  Please link back to my site if you post information on them on your website or blog.  I always love to hear back about how projects work for you so feel free to leave a comment.

I Love You Because Wall Art

Here's a little home project that I'd thought I'd share.  I know that Valentine's Day is right around the corner, but this is a lovely way to show your kids you love them the other 364 days a year.  I totally stole this idea from a pin I found on Pinterest.  I created my own signs and printed them as 5x7 pictures.  You can write on the glass with a dry erase marker and then wipe it off.  You can save my images below and use them for yourself or I've shared them on Shutterfly and you can order them through there if you would like.  Consider it my Valentine's Day gift to you, my loyal blog readers.

Toilet Paper Roll Valentine's Day Ladybug

Ladybug Supply List: 1 toilet paper roll, black paint, red construction paper, glue, scissors, pom-poms, pipe cleaner, google eyes

Begin by painting your toilet paper roll black and allow to dry.

Draw two hearts on the red construction paper.

Cut out your hearts (ladybug wings).

Glue the bottom of your hearts together and then glue black pom-poms on them.

Add your google eyes and pipe cleaner antenna.  We punched a small heart for the mouth and glued it on.

Book Suggestion: My daughter and son both love Ladybug Girl.  Ladybug Girl makes her own pint sized fun when her brother tells her she's too little to play with him.  This book is great for both boys and girls.

Toilet Paper Roll Heart Butterfly

Happy Valentine's Day!

Heart Butterfly Supply List: 1 toilet paper roll, pink paint, pipe cleaner, google eyes, construction paper, marker, hole punch

Start by painting your toilet paper roll pink.  Allow it to dry.
While you're waiting for the paint to dry draw 2 hearts on your construction paper and cut them out.  I always try to let Cole do most of our crafts independently.  He loves to cut, so even though our butterfly wings won't be even, I let him cut them out all by himself.
Adhere your google eyes and pipe cleaner antenna and use your marker to draw on a mouth.  I actually punched a hole on the back of the toilet paper roll and threaded the antenna through it.
Finally, glue on the wings.  Let the whole thing dry before taking your butterfly for a flight around the house.

Book Suggestion:  This is one of Cole's favorite pop-up books.  Caterpillar Spring, Butterfly Summer has beautiful pictures and an adorable 3-D caterpillar that is actually a slinky covered in green fabric that jumps out from the pages.  It follows a caterpillar through the seasons as he changes into a beautiful butterfly.

Cardboard Tube Heart Garland

Heart Garland Supply List: 1 paper towel roll or 2 to 3 toilet paper rolls, straws, hole punch, scissors, paint, string or ribbon
Cut your cardboard tubes into 1/2 inch pieces and form into heart shapes.
Paint your cardboard tubes and allow to dry.
Cut your straw pieces into 1 inch pieces.
String your hearts together and find a nice place to hang them.
