Leaf Man Paper Towel Roll Craft {Fantastic Fall Crafts & More}

I'm kicking off my Fantastic Fall Crafts & More series with one of my all time favorite crafts.  This paper towel roll Leaf Man was so much fun to make.  Check out all the details here.

Paper Towel Roll Fall Tree

 Fall Tree Supply List: 1 paper towel roll, leaves, scissors, glue, sheet of green cardstock, red, yellow & brown paint

 Begin by painting your paper towel roll brown.

 Use the red, brown & yellow paints to make prints on the cardstock.  These will be your fallen leaves.

Cut 8-10 slits on one end of your paper towel roll.  These should go down about 1/3 of the way.

Bend the pieces of paper towel roll back and glue leaves to the ends.

Glue your paper towel roll tree to the cardstock and allow to dry.

Book Suggestion: Another favorite by Lois Ehlert, Red Leaf, Yellow Leaf examines the life of a sugar maple tree through the eyes of a child.  The striking pictures are delightful and a wonderful book for the fall.

Paper Towel Roll Leaf Man

Leaf Man Supply List: 1 paper towel roll, glue, collection of leaves, sticks, moss, acorns

Start by exploring your backyard or neighborhood and collecting lots of leaves, sticks, moss, acorns and other various natural debris.

Lay out all your items and arrange them to look like a leaf man.

Apply a ton of glue to your paper towel roll and add your leaf man parts to it.  You can't really see, but I put something heavy inside the paper towel roll to keep it from moving around.

Allow a long time to dry and you'll have your very own leaf man!

Book Suggestion: In Leaf Man by Lois Ehlert there is a search for the Leaf Man who has recently been blown away by the wind.  This book is full of beautiful illustrations that your child will love.  I highly recommend reading through this book at least once, if not more before going on your leaf hunt.
